Covid-19, the rise of new zoonotic* diseases, and the capitalist disaster

The Covid-19 pandemic is just one of several new zoonotic diseases. These are a consequence of the clash between capitalist development and the natural world, specifically due to habitat loss and industrial farming. Previous capitalist crises – wars, economic or political crises – arose from the laws of motion of capitalism itself. This one is different and signals the opening of a new and dangerous era in world history. In previous new eras, such as at the dawn of the 20th century, the world working class was caught unprepared. What steps can be taken now to deal with this crisis and this new era? In the USA, far-right conspiracy theories about Covid-19 are starting to win some support. It’s necessary to have a world view to combat these theories.
