Israel: From Triumph to Triumph Until Its “Final Catastrophe”!

Israel: From Triumph to Triumph
Until Its “Final Catastrophe”!

By Yorgos Mitralias

A few days after the massacre of Deir Yassin, those who represented in the US the organizations that perpetrated the massacre, had the brilliant idea to ask Einstein for his support. The answer given by the famous Jewish scientist, which remains – unfortunately – almost unknown, was rather laconic, barely 50 words:

April 10, 1948
Mr.Shepard Rifkin
Exec.Director:
American Friends of the Fighters for the Freedom of Israel
149 Second Ave.
New York 3,N.Y.

Dear Sir:

When a real and final catastrophe should befall us in Palestine the first responsible for it would be the British and the second responsible for it the Terrorist organizations build up from our own ranks.

I am not willing to see anybody associated with those misled and criminal people.

Sincerely yours,

(Signed, ‘A. Einstein’)

Albert Einstein”

Unfortunately, it seems clear that Einstein was right again. With the British now a remote memory, it is indeed true that the descendants of the “terrorist organizations” of 1948 are leading Israel, which is ruled by them, with mathematical precision towards the “final destruction”. A country that may today seem more powerful and arrogant than ever but is in fact living through the worst existential crisis of its history, as it is rotting and disintegrating from the inside. The countdown has already begun and the hour of truth is approaching…”

It was with these words that we concluded our article “When Einstein called those who have governed Israel for 44 years ‘fascists’…” written in August 2021 (1). Today, our observation that “the countdown has already begun and the moment of truth is approaching” no longer seems as impertinent or even shocking as it might have seemed nearly five years ago. Indeed, yes, undoubtedly, Israel not only “can show itself” but is “now more powerful and arrogant than ever.” But, also undoubtedly. Israel is now more isolated and even more hated than ever, both by the overwhelming majority of the world’s population and by most American citizens, including American Jews!

And yet, Israeli leaders, with Netanyahu at the helm, are gloating—and not without reason. Why? Because they are currently well on their way to achieving their historic goal, one they are

The “greater Israel” dream of the present Israeli regime

increasingly proclaiming and openly embracing: the creation of “Greater Israel”! And indeed, after razing Gaza to the ground and reducing the Gazans who survived the genocide to “living”—and dying—under the bombs that continue to rain down on them, in a hell on earth that now covers no more than 12% of their already landlocked and minuscule territory, the Israeli army is now simultaneously attacking Lebanon, Syria, and Iran! Not to mention, of course, the rest of Palestine, the occupied West Bank, where settlers, backed by IDF soldiers, terrorize and kill the indigenous population at will, while burning their homes and villages with impunity and destroying (uprooting) tens of thousands of their centuries-old olive trees.

So, with the exception of the aggression against Iran—against which Israel has no territorial claims—everywhere else (Lebanon, Syria, Occupied Territories), the establishment by the Israeli army of the infamous “security zones” or “buffer zones” no longer hides the true objective, which is now proudly revealed by Netanyahu’s ministers: Israel’s annexation and colonization of these territories, which, by the admission of Israeli officials, are becoming “clones” of Gaza—a Gaza that has been largely destroyed and emptied of its population!

One might ask: is that all? Is this the “Greater Israel” of the messianic dreams of Zionist leaders past and present? The answer is provided by virtually all members of the Netanyahu government: now completely unashamed, they claim an “Eretz Israel” that will encompass far more than southern Lebanon and extend all the way to Damascus. What’s more, they make no secret of the fact that they might exercise what Trump’s current ambassador to Jerusalem calls “Israel’s biblical right” over a vast territory stretching “from the Nile to the Euphrates”! Is this mere messianic delusion or a geopolitical project currently being implemented? If we are to believe what Netanyahu himself has been repeating for the past year, this is the historic goal of Zionism, in which he believes with unwavering conviction and to the realization of which he is devoting himself body and soul…

In short, Israel aspires to become—or rather, is already becoming—a regional superpower. Trampling on both international law and the most basic human rights of the surrounding populations—whom it kills by the thousands and expels from their homes by the millions—it is militarily dominating an ever-larger part of the Middle East, upon which it is already imposing its will. But that is not all. The well-known Israeli dissident Daniel Levy is quite right to point out that Netanyahu’s Israel harbors even greater ambitions. In a widely discussed article titled What Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli right really mean when they invoke ‘Greater Israel, published on April 13 in The Guardian, he notes that  In recent speeches Netanyahu has started referring to Israel not only as a “regional superpower”, but “in some respects, a global superpower”. Israel is looking to place itself at the centre of a regional alliance that could be sustained even if US power draws down. Netanyahu has promised that the hexagon alliance would be deployed against the “radical Shia axis … and the emerging radical Sunni axis”. Israel has not been shy in naming the next “threat” to be addressed: Turkey.

Are these merely wishful thinking and Netanyahu’s bluster, or an ambitious project that must be taken seriously? Once again, the facts do not lie. Netanyahu’s grandiose project is already coming to fruition. And while Arab countries, such as those in the Persian Gulf—led by the Emirates—are beginning to look to Israel for their security after Trump’s United States disappointed them by doing absolutely nothing to protect them from Iran’s missiles and drones, others in Africa or even Europe are already falling under Israel’s sway. Take, for example, Greece and Cyprus, two members of the European Union, which are already closely tied to Israel economically and militarily—and are, in fact, its two most loyal and unconditional supporters.

And yet, despite—or rather because of—all these megalomaniacal and messianic ambitions, and because of Netanyahu’s Israel’s “Roman triumphs,” this country has never been as isolated, hated, and in crisis as it is today! Carried away by the intoxication of its military successes—which have made it the genocidal monster of our times—the State of Israel, as well as Israeli society, are accelerating their headlong rush forward, pretending to believe that their endless wars against real or entirely fabricated enemies will always postpone their moment of truth.

However, Israel’s moment of truth can no longer be delayed, and there are now a host of unmistakable events. For example, the fact is that the United States of America—which has historically been Israel’s support, if not its safe and arsenal—is beginning to distance itself under pressure from its public opinion, which is discovering itself to be largely… pro-Palestinian. And also that the Jewish Diaspora is largely doing the same, while highly radicalized Jewish youth are organizing and often leading pro-Palestinian demonstrations, especially in the United States! And also that New York, the world’s largest Jewish city, has elected as mayor the young Muslim socialist Zohran Mamdani, actively supported by tens of thousands of Jewish New Yorkers.

But despite the enormous significance of all these events—still unthinkable just a few years ago—they have less influence on the crisis of the State of Israel and its society—which is, moreover, divided into irreconcilable camps—than the rampant moral decay of that state from within. A decay that now brings it closer than ever to what Einstein was already calling in 1948, “its final catastrophe.”
