On Sunday, March 2, organizers in the Ukrainian-American community held a protest against Trump/Vance channeling Putin when they met with Zelensky.  Here is a video of that event, plus some comments below:

Overall, the turnout was excellent for such short notice, and the mood was strong.  It’s important to consider the way forward, also. In that context, I have to say that, as you could see from the signs, there was a powerful anti-Trump mood, and I think the speakers should have directly expressed that. Also, as with the protests organized by the left, I think the pro-Ukraine movement would be made stronger if it sought to unite the different struggles, including the campaign for Palestine and also the general movement against Trump/Musk/Vance. It’s also important to insist that the labor movement mobilize its membership. In order for that to happen, these events need to be democratically organized, with all supporters involved and all supporting viewpoints being able to speak on the speakers platform. This will be increasingly important as a movement against Trump gathers steam.
