Oaklandsocialist was honored to interview Syrian journalist and freedom fighter, Wael AlAmri.We started by Wael’s talking about the Assad regime and the Syrian revolution.
At around 6:35 I asked Wael about his views on where the new government will head.
At around 9:23 I asked Wael his views on the issue of the Kurdish struggle and Kurdish independence.
At around 18:30 we discussed the issue of international support… from whom? This included the role of the U.N. and the United States government.
Around 23:45 we discussed the issue of the role of the Iranian Islamic Republic’s regime and the possibility of linking up with the Women, Life Freedom movement.
Around 32:00 we discussed the reports that the Ukrainian government had sent support to the revolution. (Note: At first Wael had understood me to be asking whether the Iranian government had sent support. We cleared that up and then continued.)
At 34:40 we discussed the issue of Israel and Palestine. That included his view of Israel’s attacks on Hezbollah. Around 39:00 Wael further clarified his view on the Hezbollah.
Around 40:10 we discussed the issue of the Golan Heights.
Around 42:45 we discussed how socialism is seen in Syria, given that Assad had associated himself with socialism.
Around 46:00 Wael talks about international support for the Syrian revolution and the role of different classes in the revolution.
