On April 2, the Ukraine Socialist Solidarity Campaign had a zoom discussion with Olexandr Skyba, a leading member of the railroad workers union in Ukraine, and a fellow railroad worker of his. After explaining their situation, they asked about the situation for the U.S. unions, and several US union members explained their situation.
The meeting had a running translation from English to Ukrainian and back, because this was not just a discussion among academics, and most workers in these two countries don’t speak each other’s languages. This was an example, a first step, towards building true direct links between Ukrainian and U.S. workers. Here is a video recording of this event. We hope more will follow:
