Cliff Willmeng, long time socialist and working class fighter, is running for Boulder County (Colorado) Commissioner. Here, he talks with Oaklandsocialist about why he’s running. He explains:
- He’s using the campaign to build the movement from below, not the other way around.
- The Democrats are part of the opposition, not an ally.
- It’s necessary to build a mass, working class party to replace them.
- Organized labor must be transformed; it must be independent of the Democrats and it must really fight for the membership, not build bridges with the employers.
