Interview: Cliff Willmeng, workers’ candidate for Boulder County Commissioner

Cliff Willmeng, long time socialist and working class fighter, is running for Boulder County (Colorado) Commissioner. Here, he talks with Oaklandsocialist about why he’s running. He explains:

  • He’s using the campaign to build the movement from below, not the other way around.
  • The Democrats are part of the opposition, not an ally.
  • It’s necessary to build a mass, working class party to replace them.
  • Organized labor must be transformed; it must be independent of the Democrats and it must really fight for the membership, not build bridges with the employers.
