Trump

Stop this war criminal

Completely aside from whether his bombing holocaust will include bombing Iran’s nuclear-fired power plant in Bushehr, which “would be catastrophic for the Gulf” writes al Jazeera, this crazed war criminal in Washington DC is planning on doing

Is Trump heading towards a nuclear attack? It can’t be ruled out.

to Iran what Israel did to Gaza. Nor can use of a “tactical” nuclear weapon be excluded. Both Trump and Netanyahu are completely capable of doing it. If either of them do so, this will open the door to Putin doing the same in Ukraine.

Trump and his right hand man – Pete Hegseth – are in an unusual situation. They are operating outside the usual controls of bourgeois democracy. For his part, Trump has heard so often that he is god’s representative here on Earth that this demented narcissist has actually come to believe it. As such, anything he “feels” is bound to be right. Right now, what he’s feeling is rage at Iran for doing the unthinkable: standing up to him. Hegseth, for his part, actually believes in the Christian fundamentalist “end times” myth and white Christian nationalism in general. For him, this is the 21st Century version of the Crusades.

Here in the United States, the major reason for opposition to the war is that people have to pay $4.00 per gallon for gas. Can you imagine that? Here the US is on track to destroy one of the most ancient civilizations in the world and cause immeasurable suffering in the process, and the concern here is how much they will pay for gas! This is the result of decades of war here. In any war, the taking of human life gets cheapened, even among civilians. People are desensitized.

That attitude is complemented by the selfishness and focus on consumerism that dominates US culture today. As we have pointed out many times, the leadership of the US working class – the union leadership in all its wings – bears a lot of responsibility for this.

For years, we have seen the consequences in the repeated mass shootings. The thinking is “I’m mad at somebody; I feel no connection with society as a whole or any layer of it; and taking of human life is normal and acceptable.”

But the savagery that Trump and Hegseth are preparing to fully unleash on Iran will have its effect domestically. Who knows how far he will go here? Who knows what will be the social consequences? A society that accepts that savagery committed against other nations will end up finding that same savagery being committed here at home. What we saw in Minneapolis is just a start.
