It was pretty clear all along that Trump’s “negotiations” with Iran were a set-up for an attack on that country. He can now say he wanted peace, but Iran’s intransigence made it impossible. Meanwhile, he collaborated with Netanyahu for Israel to attack Iran. It is impossible for Israel to carry out these bombings without the intelligence package from the U.S. Furthermore, Trump himself made clear that he knew it was coming, what he didn’t say is that he did nothing to stop Israel.

As for the political effects inside Iran: The widespread and crippling strike of Iranian truck drives had been ended just a few days earlier, but my suspicion is that they would have gone back out again if the regime was unwilling to make any serious concessions – which I think would have been the case. Now, that is off the table as are any other protests against the regime. Add to that Israel’s usual blunt and bloody methods of indiscriminate slaughte, and you have a disaster in the making for the masses of Iranians.

This attack confirms the most recent article by Yorgos Mitralias – that Israel cannot free itself from its genocidal demons. It also confirms the view of our pamphlet on the nature of this period. It seems that this period is one sliding into one in which reaction dominates.
