Protest against Trump in San Francisco

I went to the pre-inauguration protest against Trump in San Francisco. I had a few interesting conversations, especially on what has happened with the unions and how the union leadership is falling down on the job. Here are some photos.

I couldn’t resist asking this woman what she thought about the criticism of Ginsburg’s having refused to resign while Obama was still in office. She countered with all the wonderful things Ginsburg had supposedly done over her lifetime. I didn’t think it was worthwhile to debate with her.

This speaker was from the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL). He got a lot of cheers for his denunciations of capitalism. But my guess is that not one in 100 in the crowd knew that his group had spent the entire election campaigning against the Democrats, meaning campaigning for Trump. PSL is financed in large part by the Putin supporting millionaire Roy Singham. I had a great conversation with this woman about Ukraine, U.S. politics in general, the labor movement, and the tech industry.

My guess is that there were from 2-4,000 there.
