The arrival of the RN [the far right “National Rally”, formerly the National Front] in government in France would be a major asset for Putin, would play into his hands, would provide support to Trump, and could have, by aggravating or relaunching the restrictions, hesitations and ambiguities of Western governments, direct implications on the course of the war [in Ukraine]. The fate of the Ukrainian people resisting the Russian imperialist invasion and the fate of the French people faced with a major regime crisis offering the RN the possibility of governing, are today linked.

Today, unfortunately, it is even clearer.

Bardella, the putative prime minister, has declared that he cannot reverse the decision to supply arms to Ukraine; however, he specifies that he will only supply “defensive” weapons with reduced range. The aim is to protect the invader’s rear and tie Ukraine’s hands to deliver it to its Russian aggressor.

Marine Le Pen has just said that the President is not the head of the armed forces (an honorary title) and therefore only the Prime Minister decides.

The fact that fourteen RN candidates have been or are directly linked to Russian power obviously cannot be unrelated to this position.

In addition to the Russian loan to the RN, 255,000 euros were paid to a foundation in exchange for interventions in favor of Putin in the European Parliament ( source Médiapart ). Should we still expect other revelations of crimes?

The French Committee of the European Solidarity Network with Ukraine affirms that the defense of Ukraine and the fight to prevent the RN from accessing power in France are linked.

In the first round we called for a vote for the New Popular Front on the basis of its programme, of which we recall here the passage concerning Ukraine:

“  Defend Ukraine and peace on the European continent.

To thwart Vladimir Putin’s war of aggression and to hold him accountable for his crimes before international justice, we will unwaveringly defend the sovereignty and freedom of the Ukrainian people as well as the integrity of its borders, by delivering the necessary weapons, cancelling its foreign debt, seizing the assets of the oligarchs who contribute to the Russian war effort within the framework permitted by international law, sending peacekeepers to secure nuclear power plants. In an international context of serious tensions and a return of war to the European continent, work towards the return of peace.

Logically, the French RESU Committee calls for beating the RN candidates in the second round.

There is no longer time for hesitation

Anyone who does not clearly block the RN would bear a heavy responsibility.

The first right of a people is its freedom and its ability to decide for itself.

We want it both for the Ukrainian people and for ourselves.
