First the Carpenters Union leadership said it didn’t want a higher raise (for the members). That would hinder “recapturing market share”, you see. That business term means that the leadership sees the union as nothing but a labor broker. “Carpenters, Inc.” we used to call it. When they were forced to call a strike, it was designed to fail. Designed to try to make sure that the contractors weren’t hurt. Here, you see what they’re doing – one of the very few sanctioned picket lines they set up where it won’t hurt the contractor.
