The US Civil War and Reconstruction
Presented by Irene Kellogg
Irene writes: The Civil War and the Reconstruction Period were the most powerful periods of American history. Four million slaves liberated themselves and exploded the social relations of the South as well as the North as they struggled to express their human aspirations. Their quest raised questions that to this day have not been answered; questions that cannot be answered within the confines of Capitalist production. So many giants have told that story: W. E. B. Dubois, Eric Foner, Philip Foner, David Williams and many others. I will attempt to re-tell the story within the time limitations of two zoom meetings. Come and share your knowledge, thoughts and questions on this dramatic historical period.
