The major event in Oakland this May Day was the rally and march from the Port of Oakland to City Hall. The ILWU Local 10 had voted to shut down the port in a May Day protest against the police crime wave. There were many speeches given saluting Local 10 and labor in general.  Unfortunately, the only speech that pointed out the different direction labor must move in was given by Oaklandsocialist.
